VALERIE WALDEN PAINTINGS FEATURED IN
3rd ANNUAL “12 BUY” SHOW AT ARTSPOKEN GALLERY

Austin, TX, November 8, 2007 – Valerie Walden is among 34 artists chosen to participate in Artspoken
Gallery’s third annual “12 Buy” Exhibition December 1-22, 2007. The juried show is designed to
present more accessible art appropriate for holiday gifts, personal enjoyment and newer collectors. The
title of the exhibit plays on the requirement that all pieces measure 12 inches by 12 inches, and the
affordability of the smaller size.
Ms. Walden observed, “The size constraint inspired new work, but it also motivated me to create
additional pieces of varying scale. The smaller space forces you to focus in new ways. The subject must
fit the dimensions, not the other way around. Once you begin thinking about space this way, some of it
naturally spills over into your other creations.”
More than 100 pieces: oils, acrylics, pastels, watercolors, mixed media and photography will be on
display, literally covering all the gallery walls. All pieces are offered for sale. The exhibit kicks–off with a
special artist’s reception on Saturday, December 1, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 8:00PM. Most of the artists
represented will be in attendance including Ms. Walden.
The “12 Buy” show has traditionally been one of Artspoken Gallery’s most popular exhibits. The large
number of artists and the diversity of their work almost guarantee that patrons can find something that
appeals to them. Hundreds people attend the reception and the exhibit over the three week period. The
show continues during regular gallery hours of Noon-4:00PM, Fridays and Saturdays on December 7, 8,
14, 15, 21 and 22 or by appointment. The studio space of Artspoken’s resident artists is also open for
viewing during gallery hours.

About Valerie Walden
Valerie Walden is self-taught with inspiration and guidance from artists and instructors at the Austin
Museum of Art, University of Texas and the Scottsdale Artists’ School. She works primarily in
pastels and in watercolor, but has occasionally been known to mix the two. Her work draws heavily upon
her interpretations and impressions of nature. She is a member of the Austin Visual Arts Association,
the Waterloo Watercolor Society, Austin Pastel Society and the Southwest Pastel Society. Some of
