Austin, TX, October 20, 2008 – A Valerie Walden painting will be among the work of only 15 artists presented by the Austin Visual Arts Association (AVAA) from among more than 150 entries. The AVAA show at Austin Begrstrom International Airport includes a 3-D exhibit in glass pylons, movie- size posters adjacent to them and 2-D work located in the East Gallery. Approximately 16,000 travelers pass through the airport each day.
Ms. Walden's featured work is 'Interlude', a large original oil from her “Silhouettes” series. Ms. Walden commented, "I'm pleased to be one of the people representing Austin to the rest of the world. And, It's wonderful to have the opportunity to heighten the visibility of my work with so many people coming through the airport."
This marks Ms. Walden's fifth exhibit this year. Her work was shown in the Austin Pastel Society's Annual Exhibition and the Waterloo Watercolor Society's 30th Anniversary Exhibit. She held a two- month, one-woman exhibit at Vin Bistro during the summer and is currently part of a three-month exhibit at the Gallery at AMPLIFY. In addition, her work will be featured in the "9 Lives in Art" exhibit which marks the November 7 Grand Opening of the new Austin Art Space Gallery & Studios. And, later in November she will be participating in EAST, the East Austin Studio Tour as a guest artist.
