WALDEN BEGINS LIMITED ENGAGEMENT AT ART EXCHANGE GALLERY-AUSTIN
-- Special Exhibit on Display Beginning January 2, 2010 --
Valerie Walden is bringing her work to a wider audience in the New Year. Beginning January 2, selected paintings are on exhibit at one of Austin’s newest fine art galleries: The Art Exchange Gallery-Austin in the Courtyard of the 5th Street Commons Mall downtown. The collection draws together pieces from several different series of her work with a focus on her landscape skies.
The pieces vary markedly in size and scope. “Roman Way” is a 48”x48” oil of steps rising from the ocean surrounding an Aeolian Island, and “Boundless” is a 24”x36” oil of the expansive plains in Argentina. Both are from her Silhouettes Series. “Sailor’s Triptych”, is a three-panel pastel measuring 8”x60” overall, featuring a sunset over the Texas Hill Country from her Sunsets Series. “Evening Tide” is a 12”x16” oil of the Mendocino coast from her Earth, Sky, Water Series. In all, there are 12 paintings presented together.
The Art Exchange Gallery of Santa Fe, New Mexico expanded to Austin last year, bringing in some of the recognized New Mexico, national and international artists the gallery already represents and complementing that work with established artists from around Central Texas. The brand-new modern design space accommodates the varied work of multiple artists with ample room for each. Hardy Woodall, Director of Art Exchange Gallery-Austin, identified Ms. Walden and was the curator for her paintings in the exhibit.
Ms. Walden commented, “I’m thrilled that the gallery sought me out. Representation at this venue introduces me to a much larger group of art lovers and furthers the mounting appreciation of my work. I’m delighted to be shown in the company of such talented artists in such a professional manner.”
