About the Artist

Seeking respite from high tech, I joyfully rediscovered my artistic origins from the talent
that runs in my family.
Eleven years ago I went from bytes and bits to a palette of colors
with infinite shapes.

After studying art, I began seeing so much more of life around me. I became imbued with a
burgeoning appreciation for every aspect of nature; nature that I hardly took the time to
notice before. From morning sunrises to the shapes of clouds and the shades of trees, I
become mesmerized by the simple and fascinated by the variation. My passion is

interpreting moments of nature.

I work primarily with two mediums.  Oil on linen canvas and
soft pastels on archival sandpaper. I find that the composition
sometimes lends itself to one medium or the other.

Pastel paintings convey moodiness through the varied
application of strokes and values used. My oil paintings are
more tonal in style; simplifying the setting and inviting the
viewer to become more involved in the scene.

In 2006 I entered my first juried art competition, "Where the
Wild Things Are" presented by the Austin Visual Arts
Association at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
My single pastel landscape was chosen for this small, but
prestigious show marking the first public acknowledgement of
my art.

I was a resident artist at Artspoken Gallery in Austin, Texas.
I am a founding member of an artists' cooperative, Austin Art
Space Gallery & Studio which is now run by the Austin Visual
Arts Association. I am a member of the AVAA, Austin
Pastel Society, the Southwest Pastel Society and Plein Air
Austin. Nationally, I am a member of the Pastel Society of
America and the Degas Pastel Society.
