BUSBY FOUNDATION TO AUCTION VALERIE WALDEN PAINTING
                          TO BENEFIT ALS/LOU GERHIG'S DISEASE VICTIMS
           
                                    -- 'Flavors of the Town' Event Set for Sept. 17, 2009 --

Austin, TX, August 19, 2009 – A painting by Valerie Walden entitled "Blithe" will be among the items up
for auction at the Busby Foundation's annual fund raising evening. The work is an oil from her
Silhouettes Series that features a snow-capped mountain and stream. It measures  28 x 22 inches. The
event is scheduled at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Austin, Texas on Thursday, September 17, 6:00-9:
00pm. Food and entertainment will be provided by several premier local restaurants and prestige
performers.

Ms. Walden observed, "The Busby Foundation takes a critical role in the support of ALS families in
Central Texas. I know my donation will directly support their efforts. I hope that in some small way I can
help further education and research of this devastating disease." The 2009 Flavors of the Town is

About Valerie Walden
Valerie Walden developed her talent with inspiration and guidance from artists and instructors at the
Austin Museum of Art, University of Texas, Leslie DeMille of the Scottsdale Artists’ School, and
renowned plein air artists Scott Christensen of Idaho and Bob Rohm of Texas . She works primarily in
pastels and oils. Her work draws heavily upon her interpretations and impressions of nature. She is a
member of the Austin Visual Arts Association,  Austin Pastel Society, Southwest Pastel Society and

About The Busby Foundation
When Bo Busby, HPI, Inc.’s Chairman of Corporate Services Division, was diagnosed with Lou
Gehrig's Disease in November of 2001, a group of his colleagues at HPI, Inc. founded The Busby
Foundation in his honor. Bo lost his battle with ALS in December 2006 after fighting the disease with
strength and dignity for five years. The Foundation seeks to provide victims of ALS and their families in
