‘EARTH, SKY, WATER’ EXHIBIT AT AUSTIN ART SPACE
TO SHOWCASE AWARD-WINNING RESIDENT ARTISTS
-- April 17 Opening with Artists’ Reception Begins Limited Run Through April 25--
Austin, TX, March 14, 2009 – Three essential elements interpreted by three different award-winning
artists. ‘Earth, Sky, Water’ is the second in a series of Austin Art Space exhibits featuring artists-in-
residence. A total of 32 original paintings will be on display in various mediums including oils, acrylics,
watercolors and pastels.
Valerie Walden conveys the emotion of the moment through color and value in a unifying, representational
approach. Jan Knox ‘s contemporary view focuses on the underlying structure rather than the merely
visible and magnifies the colors of nature in unexpected ways. And, Marilyn Rea Nasky strives for the
spiritual presence inherent in the transient beauty of the planet.
Ms. Walden will be unveiling two new series of works – one from Wenmohs Ranch and the other from the
Idaho Tetons – that reflect her growing devotion to plein air painting. Ms. Walden’s art has appeared in
six different exhibitions over the past year. One of her pieces was selected by the Austin Visual Arts
Association to represent Austin in a three-month exhibit at Austin Bergstrom International Airport
that ended in January of 2009, and she was selected for the nationally-juried Austin Pastel Society
Annual Exhibit earlier last year.
Ms. Walden along with the other two artists will be on hand to discuss their work at the Opening
Reception on Friday, April 17, 6:00pm-9:00pm. All patrons are welcome to attend. The show continues
during regular gallery hours, ending on Saturday, April 25.
