"Plein Air" Series

All works in this series were painted 'en plein air'.  Creating a painting in the field allows for the full
capture of light and shadows that a photograph may not represent. I completed three of these
pieces in the field- so they are called studies. The others were completed in my studio from rougher
studies and sketches augmented by photographs.
An artist will always be inspired by the beauty of the seasons.

In the fall, a place like Wenmohs Ranch at the end of Hamilton Pool Road is just the spot for
painting outdoors. Expansive and unspoiled, the serenity encourages the senses to sharpen, the
sweep of nature to show herself, the colors of the seasons to shine.

In the spring, Marble Falls is equally inspiring. The "Paint the Town" event coincides perfectly with
the emergence of the wildflowers. Bluebonnets popping up everywhere, turning the prosaic into the
poetic.
