THREE-MONTH EXHIBITION, "SINGING THE BLUES", AT AMPLIFY
               TO INCLUDE NUMEROUS  VALERIE WALDEN PAINTINGS

   -- Winter Showcase Features Seven Established Austin Artists And Special Events --

Austin, TX, September 22, 2008 – Valerie Walden’s paintings will be included in an extensive exhibit,
"Singing The Blues: Art in One Hue", running from October 20, 2008 to January 17, 2009 at the
Gallery at AMPLIFY credit union. Though the theme of the exhibition is focused, the scope of work is
diffused. Other well-know Austin artists with multiple pieces in the show are: Hank Waddell, Shawn
Camp, Jann Alexander, Alicia Jameson, Maggi Miller and Rebecca Bennett. These artists comprise a
wide range of styles and mediums that will make for interesting interpretations and comparisons. All told,
as many as 25 pieces will be on display.

Ms. Walden's featured work will be original pastels and oils including new paintings from her
“Silhouettes” series and " All Natural" series, some of which will be exhibited for the first time. Ms.
Walden commented, "I'm delighted to have my work displayed in such a different venue. And, I'm pleased
to be in such good company. I'm familiar with the work of the other artists and truly appreciate their
talents".

On Thursday, October 23, Ms. Walden will attend the Opening Reception along with the other artists
from 6:00-8:00 pm. The event is open to the public and features lives music and refreshments.

On Friday, December 5, Ms. Walden will participate in an Artists' Talk from 5:30-7:30pm. All the artists
will briefly discuss their work and answer questions during this special session that is also open to the
public.

Finally, the Closing Reception is scheduled for Saturday, January 10 from 11:00am-1:00pm. Light
refreshments will accompany parting commentary from the artists.

This exhibit marks Ms. Walden's fourth this year. Her work was shown in the Austin Pastel Society's
Annual Exhibition and the Waterloo Watercolor Society's 30th Anniversary Exhibit. And, she held a
two-month, one-woman exhibit at Vin Bistro during the summer. In addition, she will be participating in
EAST, the East Austin Studio Tour in November as a guest artist.

About Valerie Walden
Valerie Walden developed her talent with inspiration and guidance from artists and instructors at the
Austin Museum of Art, University of Texas, Leslie DeMille of the Scottsdale Artists’ School and
noted Idaho naturalist Scott Christensen. She works primarily in pastels and oils. Her work draws
heavily upon her interpretations and impressions of nature. She is a member of the Austin Visual Arts
Association, the Waterloo Watercolor Society, Austin Pastel Society and the Southwest Pastel

As an Austin-based credit union, AMPLIFY has embarked on an program to showcase local artists with
formal exhibits, extensive displays and special events. The Gallery at AMPLIFY's Brockton location

Expanding from the heart of the former Artspoken Gallery emerges Austin Art Space Gallery &
Studios: a cooperative space for established and emerging artists to create, collaborate and present
